School Presentations

The Brevard County Watershed Management Program offers presentations, "Protecting Our Water Resources", interactive sessions designed to educate students in kindergarten through ninth grade to understand the definition of water pollution while using principles of science and mathematics.  Activities in the presentation focus on four main types of stormwater pollutants:  sediments, nutrients, bacteria and toxins.

Water Presentations for the Classroom

  • Water Storybook Program:  With this storybook puppet program, students learn the importance of water and how to conserve this precious  resource. (Pre-K, K, 1st Grade)
  • Don't Teach Your Trash To Swim:  While sitting along the banks of a pretend river, students learn how to protect the river and the living things in it. (Pre-K, K, 1st grade)
  • Waste Not, Want Not;  Students get wet (just a little) while learning the difference between a water waster and a water saver.  They will learn water conservation strategies to use in their homes and at school. (2nd grade)
  • EnviroScape® and Coastal EnviroScape®:  This interactive FUN presentation uses representative materials to demonstrate how point and non-point source pollution enters our waterways.  A discussion on ways to reduce the impact of pollution follows the demonstration. (3rd grade and up)
  • Wetlands EnviroScape®:  Wetlands are protected because they provide a very important role in the health of our waterways.  Students learn about the function of wetlands in this hands-on demonstration. (5th grade and up)

Please note the following:

  1. Teachers must remain in the classroom during the entire presentation.

  2. Programs can be used in social studies.

  3. Customized presentations are available to meet your classroom needs.

  4. Correlation to the Florida Sunshine State Standards is available for each program.

All of these programs are FREE!!!
