Sarno Lakes

The Sarno Lakes Watershed Phase 1 Hopkins Canal Diversion Project (Sarno Lakes) is located in the City of Melbourne, north of Eau Gallie Blvd.  The project incorporates best managment practices to provide water quality treatment of the 2,055-acre watershed and reduce the amount of pollutant loadings to Lake Washington. The project diverts some of the flow from the Hopkins Canal to three existing borrow pits west of I-95. Restrictive culverts were removed to allow other drainage improvements.  The stormwater influent and effluent water quality are monitored to determine the pollution removal effectiveness of the system.
